Android's open platform principle and extensive variety of hardware, thanks to liberal licensing, has demonstrated a successful formula for Google and its hardware partners. Rivals like Apple and Microsoft have been not able to compete with the platform's crazy progress. 

There are great amount of different Android mobile phones available from several manufacturers. Samsung currently leads the group, though Sony, HTC, Motorola, LG, and others have prevailed also.
